With the door secured in final position, shims will be pulled and gaps will be filled with expanding foam insulation.

Big South end window casing
The deep inset exterior window is casing prebuilt on the ground, and then installed as a single framed unit.
Attaching Neopor insulation blocks to the foundation exterior
Neopor insulation blocks are fitted and screwed onto furring strips. After the attachment , gaps will be filled with expanding foam insulation. The application of these blocks will complete the envelope of insulation running under the slab and footing, then up the exterior of the poured concrete foundation. The foundation and slab are completely insulated from ground contact and thermal bridging.
Exterior trim
Mahogany for the deep South end window sills to prevent rot. Oak treads for the doorway entrance thresholds.
Wrapped up
All four sides of our house are covered in 30-pound felt paper.
The doors are installed
Our entrance doors have been installed, and I have a new set of house keys in my pocket.

West side porch
Photos of our new West porch overhang. The photos of the red entrance porch are architectural inspiration from a Shaker building at the Darrow School. The building is located in Mount Lebanon, New York.
Furring strips
Furring strips will provide a backing surface and a ventilation gap between the SIPs and the exterior clapboard. The strips are glued directly to the SIPs to provide ensure strong attachment to the house. 30lb. felt paper will go over the strips, followed by the clapboard.
