Furring out the inside

Posted on October 16, 2012 by admin

To avoid putting holes in the airtight Passive House shell, our electrical fixtures will be attached to the inside of the structural insulated panels (SIPs). Drywall will be screwed onto these two-inch thick furring strips, leaving a gap under the drywall for switch boxes and electrical conduit.

Raising the first glulam: June 26th

Posted on June 26, 2012 by admin

June 26, 2012. The team from Bill Stratton Building raised the first beam today. We were as excited as the children, walking under and around and contemplating this new dimensionality. Susan’s parents came over to see the progress. Today is Sally (Requa) Guthridge’s 73rd birthday.
